Students in Mr. Scharf’s class at Columbia High School/Middle School Hill Campus are gaining hands-on experience in life-saving skills! 🫀💪

As part of their American Red Cross CPR/AED certification training, students practiced performing high-quality chest compressions and learned how to properly use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during an emergency.

This type of real-world learning not only strengthens their understanding of health and safety but also empowers them to take action when it matters most. We’re proud to see our students developing confidence, teamwork, and responsibility through lessons that make a real difference.

A festive Halloween-themed flyer titled “Trunk or Treat & Chicken BBQ!” The top of the flyer has orange and cream-colored text with a dark purple and black gradient background. Decorative candy corn and orange pumpkin buckets with handles appear in the top corners. Below the title, white text announces: “October 29, 2025 | 5–8 P.M.” followed by the location: “Glatfelter Park, 1249 Lancaster Ave., Columbia, PA.” A section titled “Peter’s Chicken BBQ Information” lists details in bullet points: “Meal includes half chicken, baked potato, roll, butter, and applesauce.” “Pre-orders highly encouraged as a very limited amount of extra meals will be available day of the event. Order through QR code.” To the right of this section, there is a hand-drawn “Scan me!” note pointing to a QR code for pre-orders. The bottom of the flyer shows a large full moon with silhouettes of bats flying across it. In front of the moon are three cartoon chickens dressed in Halloween costumes — one as a jack-o’-lantern, one as a mummy, and one as a ghost. There are two bare trees on either side, creating a spooky but playful scene. Below the artwork, a banner reads: “CHS Class of 2027 Prom Fundraiser.” At the very bottom, small text provides class advisor contact information: Victor Beppler (vbeppler@columbiabsd.org ) and Kaitlin Clark (kclark@columbiabsd.org ). The overall design is cheerful and Halloween-themed, mixing orange, black, and purple tones with fun illustrations to promote the community event.

This week our cafeterias served students our first-ever Kauffman Orchards Apples!

Kauffman’s is a family-run local orchard in Bird-In-Hand, PA, and we were proud to bring their fresh, delicious apples straight to our cafeterias.
