What is the Columbia Virtual Academy (CVA)? CBSD and Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 partner to give CBSD students an option for a comprehensive, student-centered virtual learning experience.

Who can attend? CBSD students in grades 3-12 who can succeed independently in an online learning platform.

When can my child enroll? Students can enroll into the CBSD Virtual Academy during the enrollment periods: August 31, 2023 and January 26, 2024.

How can my child get started? Contact your child’s school counselor to discuss the opportunity and attend a CVA Orientation.

How can my child be successful? Students who stay on pace with assignments, show academic growth and have parent or guardian support do well with Columbia Virtual Academy.

Is there a trial period for CVA? After attending the CVA Orientation, pace and grades will be reviewed every 45 days to determine successful academic progress.

Is there an attendance expectation? Students must stay on pace and complete assignments. Failure to do so will result in unexcused absences.

  • Students must complete (on average) at least 7 lessons each school day.

  • Students are expected to spend four to six hours each day actively working in their classes.

  • Attendance will be taken each Monday for the preceding week (Monday through Sunday).
