What is the Columbia Virtual Academy (CVA)? CBSD partners with Educere to give students an option for a comprehensive, student-centered virtual learning experience.
Who can attend? CBSD students in grades 1-12 who can succeed independently in an online learning platform.
When can my child enroll? Students can enroll into the CBSD Virtual Academy in August and January.
How can my child get started? Contact your child’s school counselor to discuss the opportunity and attend a CVA Orientation.
How can my child be successful? Students who stay on pace with assignments, show academic growth and have parent or guardian support do well with Columbia Virtual Academy.
Is there a trial period for CVA? Your child’s progress will be reviewed on a weekly basis. If the student shows need for improvement, a mandatory meeting with the CVA Facilitator will be scheduled.
Is there an attendance expectation? Yes, students are expected to spend approximately 4-6 hours daily while school is in session. Please follow the CBSD school calendar. After 6 unexcused absences, the student and parent will be notified to participate in a School Attendance Improvement Conference led by the School Counselor.
