At our recent monthly PBIS celebration, our 6th grade students earned a special “Adventure” for their hard work and positive choices!

Some students took advantage of the beautiful spring weather, while others tapped into their creativity with rock painting and Perler bead designs—creating some truly unique works of art. 🎨🌼

Our 6th graders have been diving into texts using Socratic Circles—engaging in meaningful discussions, asking thoughtful questions, and supporting their ideas with evidence. It’s been incredible to see students take ownership of their learning while building strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Our 5th grade students at Columbia Middle School – Taylor Campus have been hard at work strengthening their analytical thinking skills! 📚✏️

Students are drafting essay responses to text-dependent analysis prompts, learning how to support their ideas with clear evidence from the texts they read. This important practice helps them think critically, build strong arguments, and become confident writers.

Our halls were full of school spirit as students and staff showed up in their best green outfits for “Green Out” Day! From bright shirts to fun accessories, everyone helped make the day festive and full of energy. 🍀

Students in 6th grade celebrated Pi Day by challenging themselves to memorize the first 10 digits of pi. All of the students successfully reached this goal, showing great focus and enthusiasm. Two students went above and beyond, memorizing even more digits!

They proudly sharing their accomplishments by being selected to "Pie" two Taylor staff members. It was a fun way to build excitement for math while recognizing students’ effort and perseverance.

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical concept, Pi. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (the 3rd month) since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant figures of Pi and was first celebrated in the United States.

🚨 Important Student Calendar Update 🚨

March 6th will now be a regular school day, serving as the inclement weather make-up day for December 2nd. 🌨️

In addition, the Board of Directors has approved a new graduation date for the Class of 2026. Columbia High School’s graduation ceremony has been moved from June 4, 2026, to June 3, 2026. As a result, senior early dismissal days have been adjusted from June 2–4, 2026, to June 1–3, 2026.
