Students are welcome to enter Columbia Middle School- Taylor Campus beginning at 7:45 A.M.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we ask that students do not arrive on campus before 7:45 A.M.
Students will not have access to the playground before school begins.
All students arriving between 7:45 A.M. and 8:00 A.M. should enter through the back door (by the playground entrance).
Students may choose to get breakfast during this time OR report directly to their Homeroom class. If students want to eat breakfast, we encourage them to arrive at 7:45 A.M. so they are not late for the start of the school day!
The school day officially begins at 8:00 A.M. Any student arriving after 8:00 A.M. should enter through the main office.
If you are driving your child to school, we encourage you to drop your child off along Walnut Street for easy access to the entrance.
If your child is walking to school, please review safety guidelines and expectations with them in advance!
Each morning, we have a crossing guard (Mr. Burke) available at the corner of Walnut Street and Ninth Street. We encourage students to utilize the crossing guard to ensure a safe walk to school.
We also encourage you to practice with your child if they are walking to school on a regular basis. This helps them to learn the most direct route to school while also reviewing the time it takes for their travel.
All students will dismiss from Columbia Middle School- Taylor Campus at 2:50 P.M.
The 6th grade students dismiss from the front door at Ninth Street.
The 5th grade students dismiss from the back door along Walnut Street.
All students are considered independent walkers; therefore, we do not verify their travel plans each day. If you would like your child to change their travel plans, you may call the office for us to communicate with your child.
At dismissal, all students are expected to leave the school property and go directly to their after school destination or caregiver.
If your child is walking home from school, please review safety guidelines and expectations with them in advance!
Each afternoon, we have a crossing guard available at the corner of Walnut Street and Ninth Street. We encourage students to utilize the crossing guard to ensure a safe walk home.
We also encourage you to review the most direct route to your child's after school destination.
Students are expected to treat all school and private properties with respect during their travels and can be held accountable for any misbehavior during their walk.
