🛶🌊 Canoemobile Adventure for Our 5th Graders! 🌊🛶

Our 5th-grade students had an amazing day exploring the Susquehanna River during their Canoemobile field trip! Students had the opportunity to get out on the water, learn about our local environment, and experience the river from a whole new perspective.

From paddling in canoes to learning alongside outdoor educators, our students enjoyed a hands-on adventure filled with teamwork, exploration, and unforgettable memories!

A big thank-you to the Canoemobile team and everyone who helped make this exciting learning experience possible!

🍂🥗 What better way to spend a beautiful fall day than in the garden?! 🌱🍅

Students from Mrs. Williams’ class rolled up their sleeves and harvested fresh vegetables from our garden to prepare a delicious Israeli salad!

🔍 Before getting started, students used magnifying glasses to investigate the structures of tomatoes and peppers right in the garden. They then chopped their freshly harvested vegetables and turned them into a tasty, garden-to-table treat!

🌿 The best part? Getting to enjoy the fruits (and veggies!) of their labor! Our students had a wonderful time exploring, learning, and tasting their harvest. What a delicious way to connect science, nature, and healthy eating! 🍅🫑💚

Today, CBSD celebrated Walk or Roll to School Day—a reminder of the importance of safe, active routes to school.

We are especially grateful for our crossing guards, who show up each day to help our students and families safely get to and from school. Their care, attention, and presence make a meaningful difference in our community.

Our 5th graders have been learning all about personal narratives—and this week, they’re taking their writing to the next level!

Instead of trying to tell an entire story, students are learning how to zoom in on one specific moment and bring it to life with rich, meaningful details. 📝✨

They’re thinking like authors:

👂 What did I hear?
👃 What did I smell?
💭 What was I thinking?
❤️ How did I feel?
💬 What did people say?

Our students enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors in our Edible Garden Classroom, where learning, exploration, and nature came together! 🌿

The garden provides a wonderful opportunity for students to step outside the traditional classroom and experience learning in a hands-on way. From observing plants and exploring the garden to working together and enjoying the fresh air, students were able to connect with nature while having fun with their classmates.

We love seeing our students curious, engaged, and learning through real-world experiences! There’s something special about getting your hands a little dirty and discovering where our food comes from. 🌱💚

🧼👐 Learning About Kitchen & Food Safety! 🍎

Our students are learning about kitchen and food safety, and they’re discovering that Rule #1 is simple but SO important: WASH YOUR HANDS! 🫧

To see why soap matters, students conducted a fun experiment using water and pepper to represent the germs on their hands. They sprinkled the “germs” into a cup of water, then dipped a soapy finger into the water. The result? The germs quickly scattered away from the soap! 😲

This hands-on experiment gave students a memorable way to see how soap helps remove germs and keep our hands—and our food—clean and safe!

🧼 Wash those hands! It’s one of the best ways to help keep germs away.
