ALL STUDENTS ages 14-17 seeking employment are required by PA law to apply for a work permit. Students are not permitted to work prior to obtaining the official work permit. Students 18 years or older not required to have working permits.

Work Permits are processed during the school year, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 2:30pm, in the Student Services Office at Columbia High School/Middle School Hill Campus.

Applications are available in the Student Services Office. Applicant and parent/caregiver must come to the Hill Campus to complete the paperwork(student must be present to sign the permit).

Students Enrolled at CBSD

  • The first time a working permit application is processed, the parent/guardian must be present with the following documents:

    • Parent/Guardian driver’s license or State photo ID card

Students Not Enrolled at CBSD

  • If the student is not enrolled in CBSD the following documents must be provided:

    • Student’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or passport

    • Parent/Guardian driver’s license or State photo ID card

Parent/guardians who cannot be present for the first application may designate another adult who must present a notarized letter authorizing their representation.

Summer Hours

During the summer months, work permits are issued on Tuesdays from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Columbia High School/Middle School Hill Campus.
