Creator Camp: Summer Science
Dr. Wendy King
Monday, June 17, 2019
On Monday, June 17, Columbia Middle School students attended the first day of the week-long Creator Camp to explore activities in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM. STEM curriculum focuses on engaging students in those four disciplines. Creator Camp consists of four pods that students could choose from: Snapology, Summer Science, Under the Sea, and Exploration Columbia.
In Summer Science, students will use everyday household items to create science experiments. Today, students built a Ferris wheel using popsicle sticks, made a lava lamp with oil, water, and food coloring, began growing crystals using Alum, and also used disappearing ink to make t-shirts.
